Urban Retreat - Yoga, Nutrition & Mindset to ease stress from everyday life

A calm mind in a strong body

About the event

While stress is a physiological distortion, the effects are commonly felt emotionally, impacting the way we sleep, eat and react. Yoga and functional lifestyle medicine can offer many tools to return to a place of control and peace of mind, where our bodies are not in a constant Fight or Flight state. As we shed more light on Stress Awareness this month, join Maud Eeckman, Mindset Coach & Yoga Teacher and Marta Decarli, Nutrition and Lifestyle Consultant & Yoga Teacher to discover how yoga and mindfulness tools can help you better manage stress and how you can adapt your diet and lifestyle during stressful periods.

About the event

Throughout this Urban Retreat, our mission is to help you understand your stress cycle, learn how to manage it with practical tools and ultimately, help you feel more energised in your daily life.

‘Mens sana in corpore sano’, often translated as ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body’ was coined by the Roman poet Juvenal, who was born in 55 AD.

Juvenal might have noticed something that a lot of people still seem blind to now - that we cannot separate our mind and body when it comes to health.

Studies suggest that the parts of the brain that control thinking and memory are larger in volume in people who exercise than in people who don’t. Movement stimulates the growth of new neurons and also increases levels of serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine and endorphins that support emotional well-being, motivation and response to stress.

Furthermore, a balanced diet can support a healthy immune system and the repair of damaged cells. It provides the extra energy needed to cope with stressful events.
